Silicone cases are great for those occasions when you want a quick and easy case that provides basic protection for your device. And most of the time, silicone cases don't add too much bulk to your device.

MPC is having a torrent of iPod touch case reviews and the first silicone case to join the party is from USBFever. There are several colours to choose from, and I chose the Black case.

The case has a smooth, rubbery texture that helps to avoid attracting lint. The fit is good, and the dimensions are accurate so you can fully use the iPod touch while it's in the silicone case. However, do note that the ambient light sensor is blocked by the case. It may be a deliberate aesthetic choice by the manufacturer.

At the back of the case are 2 openings for the optional arm band for the times when you want to bring your iPod touch with you to the gym. Or you could just use the lanyard ring and hang the iPod touch around your neck.

The finishing is a little rough, but it could be isolated to this review sample. For roughly RM33, I'm not complaining too much.

A nice companion to the silicone case would be the iCap. This is a pack of three silicone caps for the dock connector on the iPod. I found this accessory quite amusing, and quite useful. It's inevitable that dust and lint will find their way into the dock connector. The iCap should do a good job protecting your dock connector. But watch out! It's very easy to misplace the iCaps.

The iCap comes in three colours - white, black and pale green. 

What do I think of them? The silicone case from USBFever is an affordable way to protect your iPod touch against scratches. At this price, the finishing is a little rough, as expected. Although the screen is not protected, but the silicone case would be a good transitionary case while you're looking for THE case. People with active lifestyles may find the silicone case useful for sweaty situations. Just rinse after use and it's good as new. The iCap complements the silicone case by providing protection to the dock connector. They're really small, so it's a good thing a pack comes with 3 iCaps.
